Position Overview

Role Summary: The Chief of Early Childhood Programs is responsible for overseeing our esteemed initiatives, which encompass Early Childhood Education, School-Age Care, Summer Camps, Parent and Family Education, and Babysitting services. This position requires a strategic and innovative leader who will serve as a representative of the Jewish Community Center of York in the broader community. The ideal candidate will manage a substantial budget, supervise various departments, and hold a senior role within the professional staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support a senior leadership team while establishing a comprehensive vision for the programs.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to support the York Jewish Community Center.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and cultivate exceptional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards in alignment with the York JCC's vision and relevant state and local regulations.
  • Assist the team in executing our educational curriculum for ECE and School Age programs; work alongside staff to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic objectives that align with the program's mission.
  • Stay informed about current trends and research related to PA Early Learning Standards, STARS, NAEYC, and other educational frameworks.
  • Support the ECE team in conducting student evaluations and assist in reporting results to families and relevant agencies.
  • Lead the ECE department with enthusiasm to promote collaboration and effective communication.
  • Formulate long-term plans for educational development.
  • Manage and uphold a budget across all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a personal and professional development plan to ensure ongoing quality improvement.
  • Represent the JCC and its programs at local, state, and national educational conferences and events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations:

  • Actively promote the mission and programs of the ECE and JCC to members and the public.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating positive attitudes, professional appearance, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understand and embody the mission, vision, and core values of the York JCC while interacting with members and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding staff and student records.
  • Engage professionally with families to build trust and confidence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
  • A Master's Degree and/or a minimum of 30 credits in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in early childhood services.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High energy and enthusiasm are essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with proficiency in technology.
  • Able to work collaboratively with families, staff, children, and community members.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification is required.
  • Must pass comprehensive background checks and clearances.
  • Health screening with a TB test is mandatory.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 pounds is necessary.
