The Inpatient Financial Services Specialist is responsible for educating patients about their benefits and validating their coverage. This role involves direct interaction with patients to review inpatient benefits, obtain authorizations, and collect liabilities associated with inpatient, observation, and outpatient services. The specialist ensures accurate verification and calculation of patient financial responsibilities, including previous balances and payment collections, which may necessitate working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. This position is committed to upholding the mission of Ensemble Health Partners while adhering to all regulatory compliance standards. The Financial Services Specialist will operate within established policies and procedures across the organization.

Accountable for evaluating and collecting patient financial responsibilities, including copays, deductibles, co-insurance, and outstanding balances after financial assistance. This individual will assess patient insurance and financial details to determine liabilities, utilizing face-to-face communication with patients during their stay to gather estimated financial responsibilities. Engages with various patient access, insurance eligibility, and follow-up reports as assigned. Aids in conducting daily in-house call reviews, ensuring all necessary parties are involved to confirm that patients have a valid payer source with authorization for their current stay. Completes pre-registration and registration tasks, including registering patients at the time of service or prior to service dates while attempting to collect financial liabilities. Monitors missed collection opportunities for potential process enhancements and follow-up. Must make at least three attempts daily to visit a patient's room if previous attempts were unsuccessful due to patient unavailability. Documents all accounts with patient liabilities on a daily basis. Makes follow-up calls to patients unable to make payments while in-house. Sends correspondence to patients' addresses post-discharge, detailing estimated liabilities and payment options. Assists patients in signing consent forms, including treatment consent, observation notices, and other registration-related documents as necessary. Collaborates with eligibility specialists to verify insurance information, process Medicaid and charity applications, and perform other required tasks. Conducts daily census reviews to identify patients with potential eligibility. Assists in collecting and organizing outpatient orders related to current and future service dates, utilizing queues established within various Revenue Cycle systems.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED Required CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) Required within 6 months of hire - Company Paid
