Financial Aid Officer (LRAP) - Fixed-Term Position

Position Overview:

The LRAP Officer plays a crucial role within the Financial Aid team at Stanford Law School, working under the guidance of the Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid. This position is dedicated to delivering exceptional service to law students by managing financial aid programs, particularly the LRAP initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage the LRAP Program.
  2. Assess and determine eligibility for financial aid for current students and alumni seeking post-graduation funding.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to address program-related issues, interpret policies, and mediate complex situations.
  4. Exercise professional judgment in awarding aid, adhering to institutional and federal guidelines.
  5. Provide counseling and guidance to students regarding eligibility, financial planning, and debt management.
  6. Analyze and reconcile complex financial issues from various sources.
  7. Compile and manage reports and presentations based on data from multiple channels.
  8. Identify data requirements and lead the implementation of technology solutions for the LRAP program.
  9. Contribute to the development of business practices aimed at enhancing processes and workflows.
  10. Prepare institutional and federal reports as required.
  11. Review financial documents for accuracy and compliance.
  12. Generate reports to track financial aid trends within the Law School.
  13. Communicate intricate financial information effectively to students and relevant stakeholders.
  14. Manage the financial aid application process and propose new policies and procedures.
  15. Update and maintain the Financial Aid Handbook annually.
  16. Ensure the database meets the requirements of the PeopleSoft system.
  17. Act as a subject matter expert for students and other departments.
  18. Represent the Law School in the University-wide Financial Aid Working Group.
  19. Support the Office of Admissions in recruitment efforts through financial aid strategies.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in Financial Aid or a combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  1. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with PeopleSoft.
  4. Advanced customer service skills.
  5. Understanding of financial transactions and compliance with regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Knowledge of student aid policies and experience in aid delivery.
  2. Experience in financial aid need analysis and packaging.
  3. Ability to interpret complex financial aid regulations.
  4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  5. Capacity to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is between $69,100 and $104,000 annually, reflecting the university's good faith estimate based on various factors including position responsibilities and candidate qualifications.
