Stanford Bioengineering is a vibrant and expanding department within the Stanford Schools of Engineering and Medicine. We are in search of a Student Services Officer 2 to deliver administrative assistance and project management for our graduate and postdoctoral student initiatives. In this capacity, you will represent the department, collaborating with central administration, various university departments, and graduate students. As an integral member of the Bioengineering Student Services team, you will assist in managing graduate student and postdoctoral operations, which include overseeing postdoctoral appointments, monitoring graduate student degree progress, and managing student funding. You will provide guidance and resources to postdocs and graduate students on a variety of issues while interpreting and implementing university policies. You will also support the Student Services team during program events and peak periods (e.g., admissions, commencement, program reviews). You will work alongside other motivated colleagues, enhancing our commitment to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a specific area or program within student services, evaluating and recommending decisions regarding program eligibility.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address program-related issues, interpret policies, and mediate complex situations.
  • Assist students in crisis or facing challenges, providing counsel on sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Analyze and reconcile complex issues and transactions from various sources.
  • May assist in financial processes and budget development.
  • Act as a key contributor to project teams.
  • Provide essential support to the Student Services team during critical times.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills for effectively conveying information to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong customer service aptitude.
  • Experience with relevant computer systems and technology.
  • Understanding of financial transactions.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with legal, financial, and university policies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting and desk-based computer tasks.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $69,100 to $104,000 annually. Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including the scope of responsibilities, qualifications, departmental budget, and market pay for similar roles.
