Job Summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking an experienced Electrical Fabrication Technician to join our team in Orlando, FL. This is a contract opportunity that requires a high level of expertise in electrical fabrication, test equipment design, and assembly.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate test equipment for the development and manufacture of tactical hardware.
  • Read, interpret, and correct engineering drawings/schematics.
  • Design and build test sets, test boxes, cables, and other assemblies or subassemblies.
  • Place and solder components on circuit cards and subassemblies.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses, including connector pinning and depinning, and applying mounting hardware.
  • Build up lower-level assemblies into single or multi-bay cabinet assemblies for delivery to Engineering or Manufacturing Production areas.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Fabrication team members, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Operate under moderate supervision, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience in electrical fabrication, including cable and harness, SMT board, test equipment, etc.
  • Ability to properly safety wire assemblies and connectors.
  • Ability to solder and repair cables and harnesses.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in repairs of electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of basic avionics and electronics.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and fault isolation of components using general purpose and/or automated test equipment.
  • Knowledge of automated and/or general-purpose test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, network analyzers, and waveform generators).
  • Knowledge of the interpretation of engineering drawings, schematics, and test and repair procedures.
  • Ability to fabricate electrical test equipment designs from a blueprint of the layout, schematic, bill of material, and engineering practices manual as guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate issues with the design and/or the process requirements to management and/or design engineers.
  • Familiarity with industrial standards, military specifications, and industry processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic and frequently changing customer requirements.
  • Ability to understand policies and procedures for the control of Government property.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials.
Desired Requirements
  • Knowledge of solder certification to J-STD-001, IPC-7711/IPC-7721.
  • Knowledge of fault isolation for electro-mechanical components.
  • Knowledge of concepts for hardware repair.
  • Experience with CCA component rework and repair.
  • Rework experience with BGAs and electrical maintenance and rework.
Education

Accredited HSD/GED.

Work Hours

Full-Time 4/10 work schedule, 1st Shift.
