Position Overview

We are currently seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to assist our Orthopedic team. This role is pivotal in managing the scheduling of surgical procedures along with preoperative and postoperative appointments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational capabilities, a proactive approach, and a commitment to collaborative teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate scheduling for surgical and ancillary procedures.
  • Monitor the surgery schedule and communicate any necessary changes to relevant parties.
  • Oversee the surgical schedules for assigned medical providers.
  • Manage surgical templates and ensure all procedures are accurately documented.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary medical reports and documentation.
  • Handle incoming correspondence and distribute as required.
  • Manage cancellations and reschedule patients to optimize surgical time.
  • Order and coordinate necessary surgical instruments.
  • Facilitate additional surgery requests as needed.
  • Utilize task management systems to track and respond to daily responsibilities.
  • Provide patient education materials and assist with patient instructions.
  • Document all activities according to established protocols.
  • Respond to surgery scheduling inquiries and coordinate with external facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all privacy regulations.
  • Perform related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED; medical terminology coursework is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a surgical coordination role within a medical setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Ability to function effectively in a medical context.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with patients and staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining quality control standards.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Proficient in understanding and following detailed instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills.
