Philanthropic Due Diligence Analyst I

Department: Resource Development

Overview:
The Philanthropic Due Diligence Analyst I will engage in specialized investigative research to guarantee that the Institute's philanthropic partnerships and obligations align with its core mission and ethical standards. This role involves the collection and synthesis of diverse reputational and legal data, summarizing essential information to guide executive-level decision-makers regarding potential challenges associated with philanthropic involvement and gift acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough research to gather and synthesize a wide array of information relevant to philanthropic engagements.
2. Summarize critical facts to inform senior management about potential risks and considerations.
3. Code and archive pertinent information to facilitate case tracking and reporting for fundraising teams and high-level stakeholders.
4. Implement policies and best practices while advising the advancement community on effective strategies.
5. Negotiate various competing interests to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of research or related professional experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage and communicate sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in engaging effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Strong negotiation skills to balance differing interests and expectations.
- Initiative to seek clarification and additional information as needed.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
- Proficient in standard software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Zoom, and PowerPoint.

Preferred:
- Experience with online research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Dow Jones Factiva).
- Background in philanthropic due diligence research or fundraising.
- Familiarity with case or project management methodologies.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems, Jira, Confluence, and cloud storage solutions.
