Job Overview

Position Summary: Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for directing a team in executing inventory management, customer item packing, and restoration cleaning tasks at the warehouse. The individual serves as the primary liaison for clients on-site in the absence of the Operations Manager, ensuring all items are handled, packed, inventoried, and cleaned according to Blue Kangaroo Packoutz standards. This position leads a team of up to 8 personnel and may require travel up to 25% of the time. The work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage in the inventory, packing, and organization of customer items on-site.
  • Ensure that necessary supplies are available for the team and coordinate resupply to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
  • Oversee the packing of items into company vehicles.
  • Drive company vehicles as required to transport items or personnel to job sites.
  • Handle customer items with professionalism and respect.
  • Safeguard customer property and maintain a clean work environment daily.
  • Train and supervise Blue Kangaroo Packoutz technicians and temporary staff.
  • Promptly document and report any damage to customer items to the Operations Manager.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures regarding inventory management and tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to assess staffing and supply requirements for each job site.
  • Manage the flow of items designated for salvage, cleaning, refinishing, or donation.
  • Maintain a record of non-salvageable inventory on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols as recommended by the Operations Manager and Restoration Company.
  • Report safety concerns or equipment maintenance needs to the Operations Manager.
  • Address any issues related to safety or crew performance as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Participate in the cleaning and restoration of customer items at the warehouse.
  • Utilize checklists to confirm that vehicles are properly stocked and pass pre-trip inspections.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with additional tasks as assigned.
  • Embody corporate values in all actions.

Management Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this role includes providing input on technician performance, assisting in the establishment of job timelines and work schedules, and identifying resource needs. The position also involves training, including cross-training, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Education: An associate degree is preferred; however, a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant leadership experience is acceptable. A valid driver's license is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in restoration is preferred but not mandatory. A minimum of one year of experience in a leadership role with a proven track record of increasing responsibilities is necessary, along with customer service experience.
  • Skills: Knowledge of OSHA regulations or the ability to complete OSHA training is essential. Candidates must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and possess basic computer skills, including smartphone usage. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills are required, along with effective verbal and written communication abilities. A strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills are crucial. Attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary, as well as flexibility to perform additional tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions: The work environment may vary based on customer volume and specific situations. On-site work may involve exposure to varying temperatures. The role requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, stooping, and lifting heavy objects. In the warehouse, employees will frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, push, pull heavy objects, reach above shoulder level, and lift at least 75 lbs. In an office setting, the role involves normal sitting or standing and average mobility to navigate the workspace.
