Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Youth Residential Care Provider at Southeastern Integrated Care LLC is responsible for delivering direct support to children within the residential treatment program. This role is crucial in fostering a secure, therapeutic, and home-like atmosphere that promotes positive interactions and consistent structure. The position involves providing mental health assistance and maintaining thorough documentation aligned with individual service objectives.

Key Responsibilities – Child Development & Support:

  • Uphold the organization's philosophy and mission.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions to clients.
  • Organize, oversee, and facilitate daily activities aimed at enhancing self-esteem and encouraging healthy peer relationships.
  • Document significant occurrences and behaviors in process notes for each shift.
  • Ensure direct supervision of clients at all times.
  • Maintain a positive and encouraging demeanor to foster client engagement.
  • Administer medications post-probation, following supervisor recommendations and successful completion of training.
  • Plan and document client visits and communications under the guidance of supervisors.
  • Establish a safe and nurturing rapport with each client, employing reality therapy principles without punitive measures.
  • Recognize and respect the cultural diversity of clients and colleagues to enhance service delivery.
  • Build respectful relationships with clients and their families.
  • Intervene appropriately to assist clients in developing skills and confidence to address challenges as they arise.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Model and teach healthy relationship skills.
  • May supervise clients exhibiting sexualized behaviors under appropriate guidance.
  • For paraprofessionals, provide therapeutic support under the supervision of qualified professionals.
  • Ensure that clients' special service needs are communicated to program leadership.

Administrative Duties & Training:

  • Participate in the comprehensive training program focused on crisis prevention, intervention, and safety protocols.
  • Attend additional in-service training as necessary.
  • Possess the ability to read, interpret documents, and compose routine reports.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Daily Living Support:

  • Manage daily living needs for each client.
  • Actively engage in the daily milieu.
  • Teach and model independent living skills relevant to the client demographic.
  • Assist clients with laundry tasks.
  • Document and maintain clothing requirements for clients.
  • Monitor and guide clients in completing their daily chores.
  • Prepare meals in the cottage or assist clients in meal preparation.
  • Submit maintenance requests as necessary.
  • Maintain grocery supplies in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all cottage areas.
  • Remain alert and awake during shifts.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Exhibit flexibility in work schedule to meet cottage needs.
  • Transport clients in agency vehicles for medical appointments and off-campus activities.
  • Facilitate developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed activities.
  • Oversee cleanliness and orderliness of campus facilities.
  • Report and respond to incidents in accordance with established policies.
  • Support the implementation of effective crisis management strategies that minimize physical restraint usage.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or associate degree is required, with a preference for candidates with at least two years of experience working with children aged 12-17 facing emotional challenges.
  • A four-year degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to cope with a demanding environment that may be stressful both mentally and physically.
  • All candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and an extensive background check.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves a variety of physical tasks, including standing, walking, running, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting individuals. Candidates must possess the strength, coordination, endurance, and agility necessary to manage potentially volatile situations with children and adolescents. The ability to respond swiftly in emergencies and maintain physical stamina is crucial. Individuals with certain medical conditions that could hinder physical exertion should consider this requirement carefully.
