Responsibilities include providing mental health support and maintaining documentation aligned with individual service goals and treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities – Child Treatment & Development:

  • Uphold the mission and philosophy of the organization.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to client needs.
  • Design, oversee, and facilitate daily activities that enhance self-esteem and encourage healthy peer interactions.
  • Document significant occurrences and behaviors in process notes for each shift.
  • Ensure direct supervision of clients at all times.
  • Maintain a positive and engaging demeanor to foster client participation.
  • Administer medications after completing required training and under supervision.
  • Plan and document client visits and communications, adhering to established schedules.
  • Establish a safe and nurturing rapport with each client using principles of reality therapy.
  • Recognize and respect the cultural diversity of clients and colleagues.
  • Build respectful relationships with clients and their families.
  • Intervene appropriately to support clients in developing skills and confidence to address challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Model and teach healthy relationship skills.
  • May supervise clients exhibiting sexualized behaviors.
  • For paraprofessionals, provide therapeutic treatment under the guidance of qualified professionals.
  • Ensure that clients' needs for specialized services are communicated to program leadership.

Administrative & Training Responsibilities:

  • Participate in comprehensive training programs focused on crisis prevention, intervention, and safety protocols.
  • Attend additional in-service training as required.
  • Possess the ability to read, interpret documents, and write routine reports.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.

Daily Living Support:

  • Oversee daily living needs for each client.
  • Actively engage in the daily environment.
  • Teach and model independent living skills appropriate for the client population.
  • Assist clients with personal tasks such as laundry.
  • Maintain and document clothing requirements for clients.
  • Monitor and support clients in completing daily chores.
  • Prepare meals or assist clients in meal preparation.
  • Submit maintenance requests as necessary.
  • Manage grocery needs for the residence in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in all areas of the residence.
  • Remain alert and attentive during shifts.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the residence.
  • Transport clients as needed for medical appointments and outings.
  • Facilitate developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order on campus.
  • Report and respond to incidents in accordance with established policies.
  • Support the implementation of effective crisis management strategies to minimize physical interventions.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or associate degree is required, with a preference for candidates with at least two years of experience working with children aged 12-17 facing emotional challenges.
  • A four-year degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary, along with the ability to manage a high-stress environment.
  • All candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and a thorough background check.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves various physical tasks, including standing, walking, running, bending, and lifting. Candidates must possess the physical stamina and agility to manage potentially challenging situations with children and adolescents. Individuals with certain medical conditions that may hinder physical exertion should consider this requirement carefully.
