The Residential Care Team Leader is responsible for managing the daily functions of the residential program, ensuring the well-being and development of the children in our care. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create an environment that aligns with our treatment philosophy, while also overseeing staffing, budgeting, and program activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the organization's mission and values in all aspects of care.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to establish individualized treatment goals for each child.
- Draft, revise, and implement treatment plans and progress reports, utilizing assessment tools in partnership with the assigned Clinician.
- Set specific objectives that align with the overall treatment goals, focusing on successful reintegration into family, school, and community settings.
- Communicate treatment goals and objectives clearly to each child.
- Coordinate with the treatment team to address any special service needs of the youth.
- Design and facilitate quality group activities within the residential setting.
- Monitor children’s behavior to identify any physical or mental health concerns.
- Assist in organizing client visits with the assigned Licensed Clinician.
- Engage in weekly treatment meetings to discuss client progress.
- Represent the unit in meetings to develop and adjust treatment goals collaboratively with clients, families, and referring agencies.
- Contribute to the creation of individualized crisis management plans for each child, ensuring documentation is available to the treatment team.
- Work alongside the Program Manager to manage the annual budget effectively.
- Gather and analyze client information to support vocational and educational planning.
- Revise care plans and coordinate case conferences as necessary.
- Be available to support clients in crisis situations.
- Oversee group activities and assist with scheduling admissions and discharges.
- Participate in team meetings to keep staff informed about individual cases.
- Recognize and respect the cultural diversity of clients and team members.
- Build respectful relationships with clients and their families.
- Intervene appropriately to support clients and their families in developing problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Operations Director.
- Transport children in agency vehicles as needed.
Supervisory Duties:
- Review applications and assist in the hiring process.
- Supervise staff to ensure compliance with state mental health policies.
- Train staff on the program's philosophy, emphasizing structure, engagement, and support.
- Set performance goals for staff and conduct evaluations.
- Manage work schedules and procedures in collaboration with the Program Manager and Clinician.
- Address staff grievances and maintain positive work relationships.
- Provide oversight to direct care staff and manage personnel actions as required.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:
Education and Experience:
- A Master's Degree in a Human Services field with at least two years of experience in a child mental health environment, or a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field with a minimum of four years of supervisory experience. QP credential is also required. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.
Required Skills:
- Ability to manage stress effectively in a challenging environment.
- Experience in driving agency vehicles and transporting clients.
- All candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and a comprehensive background check.
Certificates and Licenses:
- A valid driver's license with a minimum of three years of driving experience and a clean driving record is required.
