Position Overview:

Medical Director

Uptown Psych is a leading outpatient mental health facility dedicated to providing exceptional care. We are in search of a Medical Director who will work closely with both operational leadership and clinical staff to develop, implement, and oversee clinical and operational protocols that enhance patient care and service delivery. The Medical Director will primarily focus on applying clinical expertise in various utilization management tasks, particularly concerning pre-service benefit determinations and medical necessity assessments, while ensuring effective communication with both network and non-network providers.

Established to deliver evidence-based mental health services, Uptown Psych boasts a team of licensed psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and therapists with extensive clinical experience. Our providers are committed to creating personalized treatment plans for a wide range of mental health conditions affecting children, adolescents, and adults, including ADHD, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, and anxiety disorders.

In addition to conventional treatments, our clinic also offers advanced therapies such as TMS Therapy and Spravato treatment. While experience in these areas is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.

The Medical Director will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and play a vital role in managing medical benefits, often liaising with primary care providers or specialist physicians. It is the Medical Director's primary responsibility to ensure that members receive high-quality, cost-effective medical care.

This role will encompass both administrative (0.4 FTE) and clinical responsibilities (0.6 FTE).

Key Responsibilities:

- Report directly to the Regional Medical Director for clinical leadership duties.

- Act as a business partner to center operations leaders to ensure the delivery of high-quality and affordable care.

- Evaluate and recommend staffing needs for clinicians/providers.

- Provide necessary ad hoc reporting.

- Assist in the recruitment of clinical staff.

- Oversee the onboarding and training of new clinicians, including technology implementation and company programs.

- Lead quality assurance initiatives, including chart reviews and performance evaluations.

- Promote patient safety through reporting and reviews.

- Serve as a supervisor and consultant for clinicians within the center, ensuring compliance with supervision requirements.

- Contribute to continuing education initiatives for clinical staff.

- Participate in performance evaluations and improvement plans for clinicians.

- Address leadership concerns from clinicians regarding quality and operational issues.

- Collaborate with the integrations team to support newly acquired practices.

- Engage in clinical work and supervision in alignment with assigned clinical responsibilities.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $310,000 - $320,000 annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Compensation is determined by various factors, including education, experience, licensure, and scheduled clinical hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

- MD or DO degree with ABPN certification required.

- Minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3+ years in a leadership role preferred.

- Experience in an outpatient clinic setting preferred.

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Working Conditions:

- Office environment with up to 10% travel required.

- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, and keyboard use.
