Job Title: VMware Administrator/Systems Engineer

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled VMware Administrator/Systems Engineer to join our team. This role will be based in San Antonio, TX, and will involve designing, implementing, and managing a VMware environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement VMware virtualization solutions for data centers and cloud environments
  • Manage and maintain VMware infrastructure, including vCenter and ESXi
  • Provide technical assistance and advice on complex activities such as installation, configuration, repair, and maintenance
  • Develop and implement capacity planning, installation, configuration, problem resolution, and Tier 3 support for all servers, hosts, and supporting applications
  • Formulate and define specifications for complex systems and subsystems
  • Apply analytical techniques to gather information from users, define work problems, design technology solutions, and develop procedures to resolve problems
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of experience or commensurate experience
  • Full knowledge of the job and moderate understanding of general aspects of the job and its application
  • Extensive VMware Virtualization Experience, including designing, implementing, and managing a VMware environment
  • Current VMware certification (minimally, Data Center Virtualization and/or Cloud)
  • Red Hat Linux System Administration skills
  • Windows Server (2008 R2, 2012) and Active Directory
  • PowerShell script or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Network knowledge, skills, and demonstrated experience in a complex network data center
  • Database Administration Skills (Preferred: MS SQL and Linux SQL)
