VMware System Administrator/Engineer

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled VMware System Administrator/Engineer to support the day-to-day operations of servers, including hardware, operating systems, and utilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage server operations, including hardware, operating systems, and utilities.
  • Expertise in one or more operating systems, with a focus on planning, deploying, maintaining, and supporting servers.
  • Assist with restorations, application installation, testing, Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide migrations, performance tuning, analysis, and support of infrastructure and internal hardware.
  • Responsible for configuration management, system monitoring, and centralization of courts and replication.
  • Monitor databases and support the Infrastructure environment.
  • Analyze and fix performance issues related to networking and OS, and provide application upgrades.
  • Manage configuration management, monitoring, and maintenance of all hosted servers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience (or commensurate experience).
  • Considerable knowledge of the job, with a complete understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and its application.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, with imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent solutions.
  • Work under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions.
  • Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects, with a focus on results and minimal delays.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive VMware Virtualization Experience, including design, implementation, and management of VMware environments.
  • VCA Data Center (and/or Cloud) certification.
  • Demonstrated Linux System Administration skills (RHCE preferred).
  • Effective project management and Database Administration Skills (Preferred: MS SQL and Linux SQL).
  • Knowledge and working experience with Windows (Preferred 2008 later versions) and Active Directory.
  • Network knowledge, skills, and demonstrated experience in a complex network data center.
  • Bash and PowerShell script or equivalent demonstrated experience.
