Role Overview:
As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will provide essential assistance to healthcare professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical services.

Practice Environment:

The Kentwood facility serves a diverse patient population and offers a variety of roles aimed at holistic patient care.

The team comprises 10 Medical Assistants,


1 Nurse Technician, 5 Patient Service Representatives, 12 healthcare providers including physicians and mid-level practitioners, 2 behavioral health specialists, RNs, and a pharmacist.

We collaborate with local refugee programs and cater to many non-English speaking patients, with daily onsite Vietnamese interpretation and iPad translation services.

Work Culture:
Our large practice environment fosters opportunities for growth and professional development. Both the onsite manager and supervisor have clinical backgrounds.

Daily responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, administering vaccines and medications, managing in-basket tasks, answering phone calls, and conducting point-of-care testing.

The selected candidate will undergo an onsite training period, paired with a Senior Medical Assistant for guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitates smooth patient flow by preparing patients for visits/admissions and providing specific services and education as directed by healthcare providers, in accordance with licensure and policy.

Handles necessary administrative tasks to ensure all information is accurate and up-to-date, including maintaining and monitoring the electronic health record in-basket.
Maintains a clean and organized work environment, addressing any equipment malfunctions with the appropriate personnel.
Greets and communicates with patients and their families in a respectful and caring manner.

Collaborates with healthcare team members to anticipate and meet the needs of patients, ensuring continuity and quality of care.

Collects and monitors patient data, reporting findings and patient needs as required. Documents care in line with established guidelines and standards for chargeable items/services.
Continuously evaluates processes and services for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and implements recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and introduce new services.

Engages in ongoing professional development, staying informed about best practices to maintain the necessary skills and knowledge for effective job performance.

Completes all required training and education, including department-specific requirements.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program required.
Preferred: 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting.
Required within 120 days: One of the following certifications:
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
