Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the RN Supervisor or Site Manager, the Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by actively engaging in the interdisciplinary care team and assisting healthcare providers in delivering essential primary care services. This is a full-time position eligible for benefits, typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional evenings until 7 or 8 PM, and rare Saturday shifts (two Saturdays per year) from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Please note that schedules may be subject to change.
Compensation:
The starting pay for this role is $17 per hour, with potential for higher compensation based on relevant experience.

Qualifications:
- Medical Assistants must hold a valid certification. Acceptable certifications include:
- CMA certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants
- RMA certification from American Medical Technologists
- CCMA certification from the National Healthcareer Association
- NCMA certification from the National Center for Competency Testing
- NRCMA certification from the National Association for Health Professionals
- Proficient typing skills and familiarity with computer software systems.
- Basic Life Support/CPR training, certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients, complete and verify necessary forms, and guide patients to examination rooms.
- Measure vital signs and accurately document information in the electronic medical records system.
- Assist with examinations and procedures, ensuring proper cleanup afterward.
- Execute provider orders (such as immunizations, testing, and obtaining lab specimens) and document results accordingly.
- Handle patient interactions with care, especially in stressful situations.
- Collaborate effectively with both professional and paraprofessional staff.
- Manage time efficiently to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Oversee clinic flow for assigned providers.
- Prepare patient charts for visits, maintain patient information, and assist with medical records tasks.
- Retrieve and distribute results to healthcare providers, laboratories, and medical records as instructed, ensuring abnormal results are communicated to the provider.
- Request test results and referral information from other offices, updating patient charts as necessary.
- Contact patients due for services and assist in scheduling appointments.
- Sterilize and maintain equipment cleanliness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- May provide assistance at other Cherry Health locations as required.
