We are in search of a risk management expert who is technically skilled, self-driven, and focused on results to join our Central Shared Services division. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing thorough safety and risk evaluations, offering our Underwriting teams a robust analytical perspective on risk to aid in our mission of profitable growth across various sectors, including Dealerships, Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade, Retail, Commercial Real Estate, and Service industries.

The ideal candidate will preferably reside in the Western Twin Cities area, although exceptional candidates from surrounding regions will be considered. We seek an individual who is enthusiastic about advising on safety and risk management practices, capable of working remotely, and possesses excellent organizational skills to manage their territory effectively, which includes regular travel across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site evaluations of facilities to assess operational risks and ensure adequate control measures are in place to mitigate potential losses.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of facility protection systems, such as fire suppression and alarm systems, based on occupancy and exposure risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for various lines of business, including Property, General Liability, Auto, and Workers Compensation, to assist underwriting teams in evaluating account acceptability.
  • Support clients in developing and implementing tailored safety policies, programs, and procedures to address specific loss exposures.
  • Deliver advanced risk management and consulting services to assigned clients.
  • Perform job-site safety inspections and facilitate OSHA 10-hour training seminars for the construction sector.
  • Exhibit expertise in safety management across multiple domains, including commercial property protection and employee safety.
  • Design and lead safety and risk management seminars and training programs to enhance awareness and reduce claims.
  • Develop and implement service proposals and plans for qualified accounts.

Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in Safety or a related field is preferred.
  • Specialization in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or Physical Sciences is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance safety consulting or safety roles within private industry (particularly in construction and manufacturing).
  • Demonstrated independence, organization, and self-motivation to work remotely.
  • Experience managing large or multi-location accounts is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA Standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized building valuation systems and reporting software.
  • Valid motor vehicle record for travel, including potential overnight trips.
  • A desire to pursue professional safety designations such as CSP or others.
