Position Overview
The Enterprise Risk Management Consultant, also referred to as a Risk and Control Specialist, plays a pivotal role in steering the implementation of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program at Choice Bank. This position is integral to the management of control frameworks, conducting enterprise risk evaluations, and establishing process frameworks within the second line of defense. The primary aim is to advance the risk program's evolution in accordance with the Bank's risk profile and appetite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program.
  • Coordinate and execute the RCSA process and enterprise risk evaluations across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders throughout the RCSA process to ensure alignment with established standards and risk frameworks.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to RCSAs and risk assessments by evaluating coverage gaps.
  • Facilitate the presentation of RCSA findings to senior management and the Board as required.
  • Establish metrics and mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Bank's RCSA processes.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key internal stakeholders to promote effective utilization of risk programs and associated processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to efficiently implement risk mitigation strategies and monitor progress.
  • Maintain updated inventories of controls, processes, and risks.
  • Ensure that control management processes and risk mitigation efforts align with the Bank's risk appetite.
  • Support the ERM Department in the development, design, implementation, and inventorying of controls and processes.
  • Develop effective communication strategies for disseminating risk reports, frameworks, activities, and mitigation statuses throughout the organization.
  • Solicit feedback from stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement in the risk program and associated controls.
  • Manage additional assigned risk programs or provide assistance as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management or related fields such as Enterprise/Operational Risk, Governance, or Compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management principles, frameworks, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in supporting and managing risk programs, policies, processes, and controls in relation to financial industry regulations.
  • Familiarity with developing and utilizing risk controls, key risk indicators (KRIs), and assessments to manage risks in alignment with the Bank's risk appetite.
  • Proficiency in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory expectations within the financial sector and the ability to ensure compliance and risk-based decision-making.
  • Awareness of the three lines of defense model.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, escalate critical issues, and proactively solve problems while focusing on continuous improvement.
