About this role:

Wells Fargo is looking for a Senior Control Management Specialist to be a vital part of our Consumer Lending Control Management Team, focusing on Personal Lending. This position will engage with Personal Lending business partners to devise and execute strategies for risk mitigation, business processes, and controls. Additionally, the role will involve participation in risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) activities aimed at identifying, evaluating, managing, and mitigating both current and emerging risk exposures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, manage, and mitigate existing and potential risk exposures within the Control Management area.
  • Offer risk management consultation to assist the business in formulating and executing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls.
  • Oversee moderately complex business-specific programs and provide risk management advice to aid in the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assess, measure, analyze, and report on the effects of decisions and controls to the relevant business unit or functional area.
  • Guide business units in the development, execution, and monitoring of business-specific programs to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with relevant business units to pinpoint current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations.


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Risk Management or Control Management, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with processes, risks, and controls related to a Personal Lending organization, such as installment loan products, is preferred.
  • Experience in frontline risk/control roles, particularly in risk and control self-assessments, issue management, or identifying key operational and regulatory risks within business processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to interact comfortably with senior and executive management in large organizations.
  • Proven experience in leading and influencing partnerships with business process owners by providing expertise and strategic direction in control design to effectively mitigate risks.
  • Capability to identify inefficiencies, streamline business processes, and implement necessary changes.
  • Experience in enhancing the business control environment through execution of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program.
  • Involvement in the development and implementation of new controls, action plans, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in supporting the business with the implementation of control programs through consultative guidance.
  • Ability to assess and design appropriate metrics to monitor the health of the operational risk environment.
  • Support a robust risk management culture by integrating key risk management programs into the standard operating framework of the business.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve goals in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in resolving and managing escalated and complex issues.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
