Your Role as a Senior Project Engineering Leader
  • As a pivotal member of our Technical Services Organization, you will spearhead the Capital Projects Delivery Process, implementing initiatives that align with our corporate strategy.
Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring that all project phases are executed efficiently and on schedule. You will maintain a strong emphasis on fostering a culture of continuous improvement and sustainable practices. Your role will also involve driving cost-effective solutions across various teams to support the enhancement of our profit margins.

Work Environment:
Remote work is an option, with a preference for candidates located near our production facilities.

Travel Requirements:
Expect to travel up to 50% during the initial year, reducing to approximately 30% in subsequent years.

Reporting Structure:
You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Project Engineering.
  • In this capacity, your key responsibilities will include:
    • Drafting project charters and funding proposals.
    • Ensuring adherence to all phases of the Capital Project Delivery process, including Front-End Engineering and Start-Up Management, while collaborating with engineering firms as necessary.
    • Leading the creation of project cost estimates and managing projects to meet these estimates 80% of the time.
    • Developing and overseeing project schedules to achieve objectives 95% of the time, coordinating updates with engineering, operations, and construction teams.
    • Establishing project practices and procedures related to safety, quality, cost, and timelines.
    • Managing project modifications and the associated decision-making processes.
    • Resolving critical technical issues within the team, ensuring compliance with all engineering and code requirements.
    • Utilizing project support systems effectively to keep projects on track.
    • Communicating project status and potential issues to upper management as the primary liaison.
    • Understanding the roles of both company employees and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, operations leaders, and technicians to successfully deliver projects.
    • Collaborating with operations and product development to identify internal customer needs.
    • Providing technical assistance to Project Managers regarding project controls, budgeting, and accounting systems.
    • Ensuring that all projects are documented in line with sound engineering practices.
    • Mentoring and developing Operational Process Engineers.

What We Seek:

Essential Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, construction management, or operations leadership.
  • A solid understanding of the Capital Delivery Process.
  • The ability to engage in moderate physical activity, including time spent on the manufacturing floor and hands-on work with equipment.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to meet plant objectives and long-term goals.
  • Exemplary professional maturity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Proven capability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in coaching and training others.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing capital expenditures or budgets in the range of $10-$15 million or more.
