Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance and Repair Specialist to join our Waterfront Department team at the City of Santa Barbara, CA. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our waterfront facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on waterfront facilities, including buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Operate a variety of mechanical equipment, including pick-up trucks, street sweepers, lawn mowers, and hedge trimmers.
  • Utilize proper safety precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain hazardous waste collection storage sites and inventory custodial supplies.
  • Work over water or from boats, and perform a variety of building and equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding, responsive, fair, courteous, and respectful.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in custodial, grounds keeping, or maintenance is highly desirable for Level I.
  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work is highly desirable for Level II.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license is required.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds and less frequently up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling, walking, standing, climbing, or sitting.
  • Ability to work in periodically disagreeable working conditions outside, sometimes in adverse weather, working over the ocean, exposed to water, mud, sand, dirt, grease.
