Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Mechanic II to join our team at MarBorg Recovery. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operation of equipment located inside the Material Recovery Facility (MRF).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform planned maintenance inspections (PM) and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components, including balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, and more.
  • Repair and Troubleshooting: Make necessary repairs to plant production equipment and support equipment as required.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory control of maintenance repair parts and work with outside vendors to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Scheduling and Prioritization: Schedule and set priorities for maintenance and repair work on equipment, establishing and adjusting work procedures to meet production needs.
  • Work Order Management: Generate work orders and evaluate repair work on its completion.
  • Technical Expertise: Perform highly technical work on hydraulic systems, fabrication projects, and rebuilding assignments.
  • Defect Identification and Correction: Locate, correct, and adjust defects in light and heavy-duty vehicular and mechanical equipment.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems.
  • Technical Documentation: Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Leadership and Training: Act as a lead worker, instructing and directing others by assigning, reviewing, and checking work.
  • Quality Control: Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Emergency Response: Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Facilities Management: Manage facilities improvements with contractors and work with building management to resolve issues.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Occasionally run small errands and help maintain a positive work environment.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 5 years of mechanic service and repair experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of electrical and control systems and a high level of competency within a specific trade or discipline.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to work on conveyor belts and motors, troubleshoot hydraulic issues, and replace baler knives and other components.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Valid driver's license and ability to perform under limited supervision.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to recognize routine mechanical difficulties and malfunctions, use a variety of hand and power tools, and work safely.
  • Language and Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and regulations.
