Job Title: Deputy Director of Financial Management

The City of New York is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to serve as the Deputy Director of Financial Management in the Youth Services Division. As a key member of the Financial Management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and managing the Youth Services portfolios, including COMPASS, SONYC, Beacon, Cornerstone, Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY), and Summer Rising.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent managerial, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a strong background in financial management and budgeting. They will be responsible for supervising a team of Budget Analysts, coordinating budget workflows, and providing technical assistance to program operations staff. The Deputy Director will also serve as a budget support specialist and subject matter expert for Youth Services, liaising with senior leadership, the Office of Management and Budget, and other oversight agencies.

The successful candidate will have a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative, or research capacity. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of Budget Analysts responsible for executing the financial tasks for the Youth Services portfolios.
  • Coordinate budget workflows and provide technical assistance to program operations staff.
  • Serve as a budget support specialist and subject matter expert for Youth Services.
  • Liaise with senior leadership, the Office of Management and Budget, and other oversight agencies.
  • Prepare and coordinate reports for upper management to present at City Council hearings and other high-level meetings.
