Job Summary

The Shift Supervisor position at Rensko Holdings is an operational role that involves supervising team member activities on shift to ensure that standards around people, product, cleanliness, and exceptional guest experience are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads by example and demonstrates the importance of treating every team member and guest with respect and professionalism.
  • Assists the Restaurant Manager in recruitment and retention strategies to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Reacts immediately to issues requiring attention during the shift, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Provides ongoing, specific direction to team members to ensure they are meeting their goals and objectives.
  • Encourages an exciting and fun work environment while motivating team members to meet sales and service targets.
  • Trains, orients, and monitors new team members, using performance tracking systems and feedback mechanisms.
  • Reports to Restaurant Owner, General Manager, Manager, and/or Assistant Manager on team member performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Assists in ensuring optimal team member coverage at all times and works various positions during busy periods to maintain optimal service levels through demonstrated floor leadership.

Guest Experience

  • Leads by example to demonstrate that the guest is top priority and reinforces positive hospitality behaviors with team members.
  • Responds to guest inquiries in a friendly and courteous manner, while maintaining an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Responds to guest service complaints in a timely manner, resolving problems and turning potentially negative situations into positive experiences.
  • Assists in the running of company-wide incentive programs to drive sales and customer loyalty.

Operations and Compliance

  • Displays knowledge of and works in compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Complies with and enforces all Rensko Holdings operating standards and policies.
  • Ensures that all product and packaging is properly merchandised and stocked, maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
  • Responsible for shift cash procedures, including handling cash, operating the point-of-sale system, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintains operational efficiency through the use of positioning charts and other tools.
  • Supervises team members to ensure primary and secondary duties are completed, and that all tasks are performed to a high standard.
  • Ensures all restaurant policies are followed during the shift, including cash policies, meal and break policies, and food safety policies.
  • Keeps current on all new information on company systems and procedures, attending training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Assists the Restaurant Manager in driving sales and transactions during their shift, using data and analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Completes all required shift documentation, including records of waste, manager walk-throughs, and pre-rush checklists.
  • Escalates to management any issues or problems that arise during the shift.

Health and Safety

  • Works in compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Knows, understands, and follows safe work practices and procedures, using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Reports all injuries, illnesses, accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents, and any contravention of health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures to the Restaurant Manager or Owner.
  • Does not operate any equipment, machine, device, or thing, or work in a manner that will endanger anyone.
  • Ensures health and safety policies are followed during the shift, including documentation and reporting of any work-related injuries or accidents.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent reaching above waist, chest, and shoulder level, as well as below waist level.
  • Frequent to continuous need for manual dexterity of both hands (handling, gripping, fine finger control, etc.).
  • Continuous standing on tiled surfaces for all tasks.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time without a break.
