About the Role

The Personnel Security Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Protective Services (FPS) by completing personnel security suitability intake tasks.

This position requires a high level of technical knowledge and expertise in solving complex problems related to personnel security.

Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate reports of investigation, personnel files, and other records to determine suitability for security clearances.
  • Take appropriate action to address areas of concern and manage cases through to completion.
  • Coordinate with staff and external partners to carry out security activities in support of the personnel security program.
  • Utilize advanced communication skills to affect work-products and ensure effective collaboration.
  • Research and analyze personnel security information using advanced technology.
  • Apply law, regulation, policy, and procedures to ensure fairness and equality in the security process.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of personnel security experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply highly technical knowledge in solving complex problems.
  • Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
