About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Serviceperson to join our team at Broward County Public Schools. As a Facilities Serviceperson, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of our schools and buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain all areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.
  • Empty trash and recyclables from offices, classrooms, and other areas, and dispose of them properly.
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors, walls, and other surfaces to maintain a clean and tidy environment.
  • Perform heavy lifting and moving of furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Wash and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, and other restroom facilities, and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Replace light bulbs and fluorescent lights, and clean fixtures and filters.
  • Dust and clean furniture, including desks, chairs, and other equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as floor strippers and sealers, and wash and dry vacuums.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Assist with unloading and storing supplies, furniture, and equipment.
  • Inform supervisor of needed supplies and equipment, and identify potential maintenance issues.
  • Practice safety and ensure a safe working environment at all times.
  • Complete all tasks in a timely and efficient manner, and maintain accurate records of time and materials used.

Requirements:

  • Ability to complete the Basic Facilities Service training program and receive certification within the probationary period.
  • Ability to perform custodial work and operate labor-saving devices.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English, and work well with others.
  • Computer skills as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of a GED Testing Program.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in a similar position.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
