Position Overview: The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) is seeking a dedicated Financial Aid Counselor to join our Student Support unit. This role involves providing expert financial aid counseling and administration to assist students and staff in navigating financial aid processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to students and families regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and available financial aid options.
  • Assist in the administration of financial aid programs, including conducting financial need assessments, managing aid offers, and processing loans.
  • Utilize financial aid systems and data reports to ensure efficient processing of financial aid applications.
  • Collaborate with OSFA, Enrollment Management, and other campus partners on financial aid initiatives and outreach efforts.
  • Represent OSFA at outreach events, providing insights on financial aid matters to campus and community partners.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and knowledge to assist in various areas within the office.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly when handling sensitive student data.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to interpret and convey information based on institutional policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in counseling and customer service, particularly within a financial aid office.
  • Familiarity with automated data processing systems.
  • Knowledge of Title IV regulations and procedures.

Work Environment: This position is based in an office setting, requiring the ability to operate standard office equipment and perform tasks such as lifting small parcels and walking short distances.
