Position Overview:
The Financial Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily procurement, accounting, and travel operations within the Lab. This role ensures that resources are efficiently managed, systematically organized, accurately reported, and compliant with federal and state regulations as well as University policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary contact for purchasing, consulting contracts, and coordinating payments for research participants.
  • Conduct reconciliations and initiate corrective actions in the general ledger.
  • Coordinate inventory management tasks and provide comprehensive financial reports.
  • Perform data analysis to support financial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with various business operations personnel including Finance, Project Management, IT, HR, Security, and Communications.
  • Assist with additional finance-related activities as required by the Finance Team.

Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree or higher in accounting, finance, business management, or a related field.

Experience: At least 1 year of experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, preferably within an academic or similar setting.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in using electronic purchasing systems such as KFS or similar platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Ability to take initiative, analyze issues, research solutions, and articulate findings.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Employment Conditions:
Selected candidates must meet the criteria for access to classified information and will undergo a government security clearance investigation, including checks of criminal and credit history, as well as verification of U.S. citizenship, education, employment, and military history. Candidates must also be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI U.S. security clearance.

Physical Demands:
  • Primarily sedentary work in an office environment; may require occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to attend meetings on and off campus.
  • Extended periods of computer use may be required.
