Role Summary:
The Clinical Respiratory Specialist will engage in therapeutic clinical procedures as outlined in the Respiratory Care Services practice guidelines. This role is integral to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation team, focusing on enhancing patients' cardiovascular fitness and promoting lifestyle changes to elevate their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual assessments and provide education on respiratory needs, including medication management and supplemental oxygen.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to monitor and advance patient progress during group exercise sessions.
- Offer recommendations for home respiratory equipment and educate patients on the use of breathing devices.
- Administer and adjust oxygen levels as necessary, while monitoring vital signs during exercise.
- Ensure the proper setup, safety, and functionality of equipment used in patient care.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of respiratory equipment.
- Administer respiratory medications as required and make clinical assessments based on established protocols.
- Document patient interactions and communicate effectively with the healthcare team to relay critical clinical information.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and respond appropriately to life-threatening situations, including performing CPR when necessary.

Qualifications:
- Completion of a 2-year AMA accredited respiratory care program (Associate's Degree or equivalent) or currently enrolled in an approved program with eligibility for registry.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Licensure and Certification:
- North Carolina State Licensure or Provisional License.
- Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) if applicable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and any other relevant certifications.

Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in making clinical decisions and interactions appropriate to the patient’s age group.
- Validated skills and competencies for the responsibilities of this position.
- Commitment to maintaining annual skill and safety compliance requirements, as well as continuing education for licensure.

Work Environment:
This position involves interaction with patients of all ages, their families, and various healthcare professionals. The role may require physical activities such as lifting, walking, and bending.
