As the largest facility within Duke Health, it boasts 1,048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, along with comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center.
Position Overview
We are seeking both new graduates and experienced nurses to join our Adult Medicine Stepdown unit (4300). A commitment bonus is available for eligible candidates, and this position primarily involves night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and document professional nursing care in accordance with physician directives and established protocols.
- Oversee and delegate tasks to both licensed and unlicensed personnel.
- Assist in the provision of patient care alongside other healthcare team members.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient care environment, ensuring the availability of necessary resources.
- Engage in personal professional development and support the growth of fellow staff members.
- Identify opportunities for clinical and operational improvements and participate in related initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: Candidates must possess a degree from an accredited nursing program, either a Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or a nursing diploma. Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree are required to enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary; all new hires will complete the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within their first year.
Licensure: A current or compact RN license in North Carolina is mandatory, along with BLS certification.
Skills and Abilities: Candidates should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of nursing processes and the roles of registered and licensed practical nurses.
- Ability to assess the needs of patients and their families effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Proficiency in documenting patient care and utilizing computer systems.
- Capability to work collaboratively and maintain focus in a dynamic environment.
