MRI Imaging Specialist

Job Summary
The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing a range of intricate, specialized, and technical tasks related to the operation of high-field strength magnets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Screen patients for MR safety prior to the execution of procedures.
2. Assist radiologists with protocol development and procedure execution.
3. Initiate IVs and administer contrast media as per established protocols.
4. Assess MR scans for technical quality, compile processed images, and label them accurately.
5. Schedule patient appointments and assist with administrative tasks.
6. Document MR procedures and supplies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
7. Operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
8. Maintain precise patient records.
9. Provide orientation and training for new technologists.
10. Educate and mentor student technologists.
11. Address the psychological and physical needs of patients undergoing MR procedures.
12. Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.
Technical Duties
Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high-field strength magnets and related equipment to generate specialized radiographic images of specific anatomical regions. Position patients for MR scans using necessary immobilization and protective equipment.
Collaboration and Development
Coordinate scheduling and patient flow across multiple MR locations. Assist in the education and training of new medical professionals, including interns and residents. Collaborate with radiologists and physicists to develop innovative protocols and MR imaging techniques unique to the institution.
Research Facilitation
Support research initiatives by conducting scans and utilizing provided protocols. Demonstrate proficiency in over 100 MR protocols within the health system and instruct new technologists, physicians, and researchers on their correct application.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education: Completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds the required registry or certification.
Experience: Level I must obtain ARRT certification within 18 months of employment. Level II requires a minimum of two years' experience as an MRI technologist. Level III necessitates at least four years' experience in the specialty modality for promotion.
Licensure and Certification: Certification in one of the following is required: Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT, ARDMS, or registry eligible for Magnetic Resonance (MR). ARRT or ARMRIT registration in Magnetic Resonance (MR) is required within 18 months of employment. BLS certification is also required.
