Matrix Providers is seeking a Traumatic Brain Injury Provider (Psychiatrist, Neurologist, or Physiatrist PM&R) to join our team of skilled medical professionals to conduct a one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exam.

  • Employment Status: Part Time
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly.
  • Schedule: 3 days per week. 2 days remote, 1 day face to face.

Qualifications: The Traumatic Brain Injury Provider (Psychiatrist, Neurologist, or Physiatrist PM&R) must meet the following criteria:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) or Neurology, with experience in evaluating for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
  • Experience in primary care is essential.
  • Must hold and maintain an active and unrestricted license in the specialty field of M.D. or D.O.
  • Certification: Must have an active and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • All on-site staff and contractors must be fully vaccinated per CDC and state guidelines.
  • Prior experience with VA or compensation exams is advantageous but not mandatory.

Job Overview:

  • Review relevant medical history documentation and conduct one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for veterans.
  • The TBI Provider will document responses during the exam using web-based examination forms; all records will be completed electronically. Finalized exams are submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations.
  • Common assessment reasons include motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, and, in some cases, combat exposure.
  • Diagnostic evaluations may involve Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) testing if clinically warranted and neuropsychological assessments; any neuropsychological testing will be referred to a neuropsychologist.
  • Ancillary services (X-rays, labs, EKGs, PFTs, ABIs) may be requested and will be conducted on-site or nearby.
