Key Responsibilities
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the photography services and operations offered by Holland America.
  • Collaborate with a team of photographers during cruise events to capture memorable moments of guests in various settings, utilizing backdrops and studio lighting as needed.
  • Consistently deliver a high volume of well-composed, posed, and focused images that meet company standards.
  • Aim to achieve optimal image capture rates and sales targets for each event throughout the cruise.
  • Engage with guests in a friendly and courteous manner to encourage participation in photo opportunities, ensuring a fun and enjoyable experience.
  • Assist in promoting the PhotoStudio program by encouraging guests to explore available services.
  • Support the photo gallery or shop as assigned, assisting guests with their purchases and suggesting additional items from retail lines.
  • Utilize effective sales techniques as trained.
  • Ensure merchandise is restocked and presented neatly on the sales floor.
  • Communicate any product quality or stock issues to management promptly.
  • Maintain organized, secure, and clean storage areas.
  • Work closely with supervisors to address service issues promptly, escalating to management as necessary.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding issued equipment and company assets as per policy.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, addressing any malfunctions swiftly.
  • Adhere to the company dress code, ensuring uniforms are clean and properly worn.
  • Maintain high standards of personal grooming and professionalism.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a cruise photographer is highly desirable.
  • A degree in photography is preferred, though various college certificates in photography are acceptable. Proof of education and documentation of completed courses and grades is required.
  • Hands-on experience in professional photography is preferred and must be documented.
  • A portfolio showcasing your work is preferred and must be verifiable as your original work.
  • At least two years of experience in event, portrait, or wedding photography, particularly in large event settings.
  • Proficient in using professional-grade DSLR equipment and accessories.
  • Experience with studio lighting equipment and accessories is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Windows or Mac-based systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar software.
  • Familiarity with Nikon DSLR systems, flash systems, and commercial-grade printing equipment is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Effective communication is essential. Photography staff must interact positively with guests and should be fluent in English.
  • Personal Attributes: A personable communicator with excellent social skills, a warm and engaging personality, and a commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.
