Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will support the Controller in executing all accounting responsibilities at ICAST. This encompasses construction and grant project accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledgers, payroll, account analysis, variance analysis, and monthly financial reporting. This role collaborates closely with the Controller to oversee financial performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a similar capacity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledgers, payroll, account analysis, and monthly reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in construction-related accounting tasks as outlined in the position summary.
  • Prior experience in an accounting role within a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly with M365 (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, problem-solving, research, and follow-up abilities.

Location: Remote within the U.S.A.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Controller.

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced.

Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.

Areas of Expertise: Payroll regulations and processing, ERP systems, GAAP, Federal & State Grant Financial Reporting, Construction Accounting, General Ledger, Sage Intacct, KPIs, 501c3 Non-Profit Accounts.

Compensation: $80K, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to oversee and monitor the financial status of projects and grants, including the allocation of personnel and costs for payroll processing.
  • Prepare monthly reports that analyze budget versus actual performance and identify potential risks or opportunities. Conduct special analyses as needed.
  • Contribute to the monthly and year-end closing processes by completing assigned components, including preparing entries, reconciliations, workpapers, financial statements, and analyses.
  • Lead the design and implementation of process enhancements to improve efficiency or adapt to external changes, including defining roles, establishing procedures, leveraging technology, and creating process swim lane analyses.

Goals:

  • Maintain a strong awareness of deadlines.
  • Review accounting practices with a focus on enhancing efficiency, accountability, and management.
  • Execute month-end closing schedules effectively.
  • Develop improved reporting methods and information dissemination throughout the organization.
  • Create KPI (Key Performance Indicators) variance analysis and reporting.
