Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Shelter Support Staff to join our team at Henning Inc. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional support to residents, including receiving and documenting information from previous shifts, relieving watch duties, and conducting cleanliness checks.
  • Organize and supervise resident work details to maintain facility cleanliness and ensure compliance with health and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and staff to promote positive relationships and resolve conflicts.
  • Participate in staff meetings to share observations and recommendations, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with company policies.
  • Comply with company policies, work rules, and facility procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Assist with building upkeep and maintenance as needed, and model hope, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy to promote recovery goals.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage work time well, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in interactions with residents and staff.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with people of diverse cultures and belief systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality.
Work Environment

The physical demands of this role include grasping, typing, seeing, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work environment is a general office setting with possible shared office space.

Employment Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass State and federal background checks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and maintain poise and self-control under stress.
  • Ability to pass a pre-screening drug test.
  • Ability and willingness to work through complications and issues that may arise, and sensitivity to Alaska's homeless populations.
