Position Overview

Senior Healthcare Architect/Specialist Position

An individual in this capacity employs advanced architectural principles and innovative designs across a diverse range of projects within various market sectors, overseeing and enhancing the productivity of CPL's architectural design teams.

The Senior Architect/Specialist independently explores, assesses, and proposes technical design solutions that not only meet but surpass client expectations for any designated project. Often recognized as a specialist, the Senior Architect possesses extensive specialized knowledge and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Reporting to a Project Manager or Principal, you will provide guidance throughout the planning, design, and coordination of intricate assignments, executing unique tasks that necessitate the development of new or improved techniques and methodologies. The Senior Architect holds supervisory responsibilities and engages in highly complex projects of moderate to large scale.

Key Qualifications

  • A professional degree in Architecture with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Architect (RA) status is required.
  • LEED and WELL certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and other 3D visualization software.
  • Strong understanding of governing codes, standards, and project planning processes.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a project team, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, effectively utilized in communications with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Foundational knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sustainable design practices.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee architectural work at every project stage, assigning tasks to team members and managing workloads effectively.
  • Engage in client meetings throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Facilitate design and contract document work sessions in collaboration with other disciplines and practice teams.
  • Draft and edit architectural specifications utilizing independent analysis and design expertise.
  • Regularly consult with Project Managers at each project milestone to ensure design quality control and assurance.
  • Research codes, guidelines, and regulations that govern best design practices.
  • Coordinate and submit all multi-disciplinary documents for approvals, bidding, and construction.
  • Actively participate in construction administration, including generating supplemental instructions, change directives, change orders, and preparing responses to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Supervisory responsibilities, including resource and personnel management:
    • Delegate and oversee work assigned to Engineering Technicians or interns.
    • Encourage and foster the development of CPL team members, providing regular feedback and serving as a mentor.
    • Participate in career development discussions with your team on a scheduled basis.
    • Motivate and lead internal and external stakeholders to formulate strategies and plans that align with organizational goals.
    • Influence team dynamics through effective communication.
