Job Overview

SENIOR HEALTHCARE ARCHITECT/SPECIALIST POSITION

The individual in this position utilizes advanced architectural principles and methodologies across a diverse range of projects within various market sectors, overseeing and enhancing the effectiveness of CPL's architectural design teams.

The Senior Architect/Specialist independently explores, assesses, and proposes innovative design solutions that fulfill and surpass client expectations for assigned projects. Often designated as a specialist, the Senior Architect possesses extensive specialized knowledge and is recognized as a subject matter expert. Reporting to a Project Manager or Principal, you will provide expert consultation throughout the planning, design, and coordination of intricate assignments, as well as execute unique tasks that necessitate the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. The Senior Architect holds supervisory responsibilities and engages in highly complex projects of moderate to large scale.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A professional degree in Architecture with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Architect (RA) certification is required.
  • LEED and WELL certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and other 3D visualization tools is essential.
  • Strong understanding of governing codes, standards, and project planning processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, effectively utilized in communication with clients, consultants, and internal teams via phone, in-person, and email.
  • Foundational knowledge of construction methods/materials and sustainable design practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee architectural work throughout each project phase, assigning tasks to team members and managing workloads effectively.
  • Engage in client meetings across all design and construction phases.
  • Facilitate design and contract document work sessions in collaboration with other disciplines and practice teams.
  • Draft and edit architectural specifications based on independent analysis and design expertise.
  • Regularly check in with Project Managers at each project milestone to ensure design quality control and assurance.
  • Research and adhere to codes, guidelines, and regulations that govern best design practices.
  • Coordinate and submit all multi-disciplinary documents for necessary approvals, bidding, and construction.
  • Actively participate in construction administration, including generating supplemental instructions, creating change directives, and preparing responses to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Supervisory duties, including resource and personnel management:
    • Delegate and oversee work assigned to Engineering Technicians or interns.
    • Encourage and support the development of CPL team members, providing regular feedback and serving as a mentor.
    • Engage in career development discussions with team members on a scheduled basis.
    • Motivate and lead internal and external stakeholders to formulate strategies and plans that align with organizational goals.
    • Influence others through effective communication.
