Position Overview

Senior Healthcare Architect/Specialist

The individual in this position utilizes advanced architectural principles and methodologies across diverse projects within various market sectors, overseeing and enhancing the productivity of CPL's architectural design teams.

The Senior Architect/Specialist independently explores, assesses, and proposes innovative design solutions that not only meet but surpass client expectations for assigned projects. Often designated as a specialist, the Senior Architect possesses extensive expertise and is recognized as a subject matter authority. Reporting to a Project Manager or Principal, you will provide expert consultation throughout the planning, design, and coordination of intricate assignments while executing unique tasks that necessitate the development of new or improved techniques and processes. This role includes supervisory responsibilities and involves engagement in highly complex projects of moderate to large scale.

Key Qualifications

  • A professional degree in Architecture with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Architect (RA) certification is required.
  • LEED and WELL certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and other 3D visualization software.
  • Strong understanding of governing codes, standards, and project planning processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Foundational knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sustainable design strategies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee architectural tasks throughout each project phase, assigning responsibilities to team members and managing workloads effectively.
  • Engage in client discussions throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Facilitate design and contract document sessions in collaboration with other disciplines and practice teams.
  • Draft and edit architectural specifications utilizing independent analysis and design expertise.
  • Regularly consult with Project Managers at each project milestone to ensure design quality control and assurance.
  • Research relevant codes, guidelines, and regulations that govern best design practices.
  • Coordinate and submit all multi-disciplinary documents for necessary approvals, bidding, and construction.
  • Actively participate in construction administration, including generating supplemental instructions, change directives, change orders, and preparing responses to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Supervisory responsibilities, including resource and personnel management:
    • Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to Engineering Technicians or interns.
    • Encourage and support the development of CPL team members, providing feedback and mentorship.
    • Participate in career development discussions with team members on a regular basis.
    • Engage and motivate both internal and external stakeholders to create strategies and plans that align with organizational goals.
    • Influence through effective communication.
