Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our team at Ball Corporation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing tasks and providing services to support our plant's production goals, overall business plans, and objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support and follow the guidelines of our food safety system.
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, erect, move, and dismantle all types of machinery and auxiliary production equipment.
- Inspect job sites and equipment to be dismantled, erected, or moved, and analyze blueprints and schematics to estimate weight and clearance requirements.
- Select and transport tools, machinery, and materials needed for assignments.
- Fabricate sheet metal and structural units as needed, including guarding, steps, stairs, conveyors, elevators, and platforms.
- Splice ropes and cables as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance for building and grounds as necessary.
- Maintain all shop tools and equipment, and perform clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
- Communicate pertinent information to the next shift.
- Direct efforts of contract labor on specific assignments.
- May be required to visit customers to troubleshoot equipment and/or finished cans.
- Initiate, review, and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the area of responsibility.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, division, group, and company.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Job-related experience for 4 years minimum.
- Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
- Performs individual assignments as management may direct.
- Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
- Maintains an awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
- Thorough understanding of the operating principles of all assigned equipment.
- Possesses general carpentry skills.
- Ability to arc weld, MIG weld, TIG weld, and use oxy-acetylene equipment (stainless, carbon, steel, and aluminum).
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to perform basic plumbing and piping.
- Ability to perform basic structural and sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use basic machine shop equipment, i.e., lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
- Working knowledge of the following areas: welding, brazing, burning, bending, heat treatment of metals, shearing and drilling, machine shop theory and practices, nomenclature of assigned equipment.
- Works in a manufacturing environment.
- This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
- Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
- Works in confined area(s).
- Starting Hourly Rate: $ Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
- Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
