Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Stearns Companies. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing semi-tractor and trailer tires, replacing hoses and airlines, and servicing brake chambers.
  • Locate and repair air leaks, and perform fuel delivery tasks.
  • Repair and replace lights and fuses, and perform trailer repairs.
  • Submit accurate paperwork, daily reports, and other necessary documentation related to repairs made.
  • Ensure that service vehicles are kept clean inside and out, and that tools and equipment are stored in designated locations and kept in working condition.
Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently, and be dependable with good attendance.
  • Mechanical experience, preferably with diesel engines and large vehicles, is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate dependability, follow instructions, commit to extended work hours when necessary, read and understand manufacturer's service specifications, and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Current DOT Physical, or the ability to pass it, is required.
  • Pass Drug screen according to DOT requirements, and must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Good driving record and ability to be insured with the company's Insurance carrier are required.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and flexibility to adapt to customers' changing needs, weekend and after hours rotational on-call schedule, and various work environments are essential.
