Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician (Mechanical & Electrical) is responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of both mechanical and electrical systems within the facility. This role requires hands-on experience with pumps, motors, prox switches, cylinders, and the ability to safely work with electrical systems up to 480 volts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Maintenance:
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical systems, particularly focusing on pumps, motors, cylinders, and related components.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures or breakdowns, especially in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and make necessary repairs.
  • Fabricate or modify parts as needed using machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and welding equipment.
  • Ensure all mechanical equipment, including pumps and cylinders, is operating within specified parameters and is properly lubricated.

Electrical Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, including motors, prox switches, control panels, PLCs, and wiring, with an emphasis on systems operating up to 480 volts.
  • Safely install, repair, and maintain electrical components, such as lighting, transformers, circuit breakers, and electrical control systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams, particularly in relation to prox switches, motor control systems, and 480-volt circuits.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations, particularly when working with high-voltage systems.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Develop and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule specifically tailored to pumps, motors, prox switches, cylinders, and high-voltage electrical systems to reduce downtime and increase equipment longevity.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Proactively identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure and recommend improvements.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others, especially when working with high-voltage systems.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety programs, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored after use.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with production teams to minimize disruption and downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with management, engineers, and other team members regarding maintenance issues and project status.
  • Participate in cross-training and skill development opportunities as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance with a focus on pumps, motors, prox switches, cylinders, and electrical systems up to 480 volts.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, motors, prox switches, and control systems, with specific experience in working with 480-volt systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and solve problems efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, heights, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
