Leidos is seeking a **Lead Electrical Engineer** to spearhead the design, development, and deployment of advanced space-based sensor systems. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with various engineering leads, including FPGA/Firmware, Signal Processing, and Software Engineering, while overseeing a dedicated team of 3-5 Electrical Engineers focused on innovative sensor product development.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in designing, developing, integrating, and testing high-speed printed circuit boards for system-on-chip (SoC) applications. This role demands a versatile skill set encompassing hardware design, firmware development, system integration, and rigorous testing methodologies.

**Key Responsibilities**
As the Lead Electrical Engineer, your primary duties will include:
  • Managing the comprehensive development and integration of hardware engineering activities for space-related systems and sensors.
  • Leading a team of electrical engineers in requirement analysis, documentation, and verification management.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of sensor design and architecture.
  • Providing technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle, from design to testing.
  • Resolving complex technical challenges related to design specifications and requirements.
  • Designing and integrating high-speed circuit boards tailored for diverse FPGA applications.
  • Conducting trade studies for component and architecture decisions.
  • Creating detailed product documentation, including system requirements specifications and test reports.

**Basic Qualifications**
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Proven experience managing a team of Electrical Engineers.
  • Expertise in digital hardware design, PCB technology, and RF components.
  • Proficiency in PCB design tools and CAD software.
  • Experience with FPGA design and development.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed communication bus design techniques.
  • Experience in developing FPGA firmware and embedded software.
  • Knowledge of hardware debugging equipment and testing methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with significant experience or a Master's degree with a strong background in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

**Preferred Qualifications**
Candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:
  • Advanced knowledge of space systems and their impact on sensor performance.
  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
  • Experience with algorithm development and implementation.
  • Programming skills in languages such as C/C++, Java, or Python.
  • Familiarity with FPGA/SoC security measures.
