Your Impact
Engage from project initiation through to the completion of design documents and construction oversight of electrical engineering projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, and cost assessments; prepare phased plans and update documents requiring coordination with stakeholders, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients, focusing on Federal Design requirements.
Oversee, review, and validate electrical design plans for mid-level and complex projects, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with all relevant codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.
Provide guidance in collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, substation components, and equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, as well as detailed design and review processes in accordance with IEEE, NESC, ANSI, DOD, and NERC standards.
Conduct professional electrical engineering tasks and perform in-depth investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, facilities, substation layouts, grounding grid designs, and power plants to ensure adherence to applicable rules, standards, and permits.
Utilize advanced electrical engineering techniques and methodologies to identify enhancements for various project phases, including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operational phases.
Lead large-scale electrical engineering initiatives, ensuring team members understand their responsibilities and deadlines, while preparing and managing relevant project budgets, monitoring external factors, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors and employees.
Assist in the engineering review of permit applications, design plans, specifications, standby plans, and construction inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and sound engineering practices.
Collaborate with professionals from diverse disciplines, including engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on federally, state, regionally, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
Ensure that technical reports and presentations effectively communicate research findings and recommendations to address electrical, design, and construction challenges.
Engage with various public, private, or governmental entities to discuss issues related to electrical engineering and construction programs.
Oversee the development and implementation of innovative technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, cabling, conduit, and trenching design strategies, as well as electrical design requirements to ensure safety and functionality for end-users and infrastructure.
Stay updated on the latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
Mentor team members to foster their growth and professional development.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
7-10 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer delivering design solutions for federal projects in power, lighting, and distribution, including building design and site distribution.
Engineer license required.
Extensive knowledge of infrastructure and building design within the U.S. and internationally.
Strong understanding of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Proficient in technical computations and calculations involving engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to appropriate regulations.
Experience in planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to apply technical knowledge to derive conclusions from testing results, data analysis, and statistical evaluations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas effectively to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
Strong self-leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact persuasively and tactfully with clients, regulators, project managers, and colleagues at all organizational levels.
Experienced in providing critical reviews for documents and preparing complex technical deliverables and plans.
Ability to work independently while providing guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior team members, with strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control standards.
Proficient in technical writing, office automation, and discipline-specific design software.
Demonstrated effectiveness in coordinating and directing subcontractors and others to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Proven track record of maintaining workplace safety and adhering to WSP's health, safety, and conduct policies.
Flexibility to accommodate various schedules to meet business needs and the ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt quickly to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
Occasional travel may be required based on project-specific needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certifications such as LEED AP and PMP are preferred but not mandatory.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $104,500-$155,210
WSP provides this compensation range based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and specific geographic location.
WSP reserves the right to adjust compensation and offer additional benefits based on circumstances unrelated to an applicant's protected status.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $104,500-$155,210
WSP provides this compensation range for applicants within the state of Colorado based on similar criteria.
