Position Summary:
The Senior Pricing Specialist plays a pivotal role by fulfilling two key functions: (1) acting as a member of the Pricing Management Team (PMT) within Business Development Operations, and (2) serving as the primary mentor and trainer for staff involved in U.S. Government (USG) Programs, equipping them to manage pricing for individual proposals. This mentorship involves guiding proposal teams during the initial phases of bid pricing strategy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Duties: As a member of the PMT, the Senior Pricing Specialist will contribute to the development of cost proposals in response to solicitations from USAID and other funding entities, thereby supporting the business development objectives of DAI's USG unit. The primary responsibilities of the PMT include ensuring that all USG cost proposals are accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable government and commercial regulations. Additionally, the PMT enhances pricing capabilities across all USG regional project portfolios by creating pricing tools and resources, and providing guidance during the proposal development process. Key tasks include:
- Interpreting complex contract terms.
- Ensuring all cost proposal requirements outlined in solicitations are met.
- Formulating pricing strategies for specific bids.
- Identifying opportunities for profitability enhancement.
- Assessing cost risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Assisting subcontract negotiators with budget evaluations.
- Completing all necessary cost-related documentation for solicitations.
- Reviewing and validating proposal budget spreadsheets.
Mentorship and Training Duties: The Senior Pricing Specialist will lead training and mentorship initiatives to cultivate a skilled pool of Programs staff capable of occasionally leading pricing efforts for individual proposals. Training may involve formal sessions or personalized mentoring to prepare staff for pricing specific proposals. This role also requires collaboration with Regional Vice Presidents and other Programs managers to establish proposal pricing requirements and identify individuals with potential for leading pricing efforts. Specific responsibilities include:
- Recognizing the need for new pricing tools, templates, and processes, and contributing to their development.
- Assisting in the creation of training programs focused on proposal pricing.
- Providing strategic advice on pricing for proposals.
- Supporting proposal teams in developing preliminary budgets during the capture and prepositioning phases.
- Offering mentorship to lead pricers during peak workload periods.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- At least five years of relevant experience in business development or project management, along with a college degree. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience in developing comprehensive budgets for cost proposals in response to USAID solicitations.
- Experience in analyzing solicitations and crafting responsive bid pricing strategies.
- Experience in providing training and mentorship on proposal pricing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of DAI's business model.
- Familiarity with economic growth, environment, governance, and health sectors.
- Knowledge of USAID policies and regulations.
- Customer service orientation with a positive attitude.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits:
The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from $94,780 to $111,506. Salaries for part-time roles will be proportionate to hours worked. Final offers will depend on various factors including qualifications, education, experience, skills, and business needs.

Employees will also qualify for paid annual leave, sick leave, parental leave, and short- and long-term disability coverage.
