Position Overview:

The Senior Pricing Specialist plays a pivotal role by fulfilling two key functions: (1) acting as a member of the Pricing Management Team (PMT) within Business Development Operations, and (2) serving as the primary mentor and trainer for staff involved in U.S. Government (USG) Programs, equipping them to lead pricing for individual proposals. This mentorship involves guiding proposal teams during the initial phases of bid pricing strategy development.

Key Responsibilities:

Pricing Duties: As a member of the PMT, the Senior Pricing Specialist will support the formulation of cost proposals in response to solicitations from USAID and other funding entities, thereby advancing the business development objectives of DAI's USG unit. The PMT's overarching responsibilities include ensuring the precision, thoroughness, and compliance of all USG cost proposals with applicable governmental and commercial regulations, while enhancing pricing capabilities across all USG regional project portfolios through the creation of pricing tools and resources, as well as providing guidance during the development of each cost proposal. Specific tasks include:

  • Analyzing and interpreting complex contract stipulations.
  • Ensuring all cost proposal requirements outlined in solicitations are identified and met.
  • Developing pricing strategies tailored to individual bids.
  • Identifying profitability levers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Recognizing cost risks and formulating mitigation strategies.
  • Assisting subcontract negotiators in evaluating subcontract budget submissions.
  • Completing all cost-related documentation mandated by solicitations (representations, certifications, etc.)
  • Reviewing and validating Excel spreadsheets for proposal budgets.

Mentorship and Training Duties: The Senior Pricing Specialist will conduct training and mentorship sessions aimed at developing a cadre of Programs staff capable of occasionally leading pricing on individual proposals. Training methodologies may encompass formal sessions or personalized mentoring to prepare Programs staff for pricing specific proposed efforts. This role also entails collaboration with Regional Vice Presidents and other Programs managers to delineate proposal pricing requirements and identify individuals demonstrating interest and potential in serving as lead proposal pricers. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Recognizing the need for new pricing tools, templates, and processes, and contributing to their development.
  • Participating in the creation of new training programs focused on proposal pricing.
  • Advising Programs managers and staff on pricing strategies for proposals.
  • Assisting proposal teams in formulating preliminary budgets during capture and prepositioning.
  • Supporting other PMT members by mentoring lead pricers on live proposal efforts during peak workload periods.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in business development or project management, along with a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience in creating comprehensive budgets for cost proposals in response to USAID solicitations.
  • Experience in analyzing solicitations and developing responsive bid pricing strategies.
  • Experience in providing training and mentorship on proposal pricing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of DAI's business model.
  • Familiarity with technical aspects in economic growth, environment, governance, and health.
  • Knowledge of USAID thematic and functional policies and regulations.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying policies and interpreting regulations to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in proactive client engagement and a solid understanding of client requirements and preferred business practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with personnel at all levels of the organization from various backgrounds.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working in the United States, the estimated annual base salary for this role ranges between $94,780 to $111,506. Salaries for part-time employees will be proportionate to hours worked. Final offers will depend on various factors such as qualifications, education, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.

Eligible U.S.-based employees will have the option to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with a 401(k) retirement plan featuring a company match.
