Overview

The City of Charlotte is a thriving metropolis with a rich history and a strong commitment to social justice. As a Community Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in promoting equality and fairness throughout the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the Nondiscrimination Ordinance Program to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Provide training and education to community members on anti-discrimination laws and regulations.
  • Investigate complaints of discrimination and work to resolve them through conciliation and mediation.
  • Identify community needs and resources to address social and economic issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, human service agencies, and private businesses to promote collaboration and cooperation.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, sociology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and procedures relating to civil rights.
  • Experience in human service, community relations, or a related field.
  • Ability to analyze complex social issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bi-lingual skills.
  • Experience in community outreach and engagement.
