Job Summary

The Community Development Specialist is a full-time position at Girl Scouts Hornets' Nest Council. This role is responsible for developing and implementing community outreach programs to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to under-served girls. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and cultivate effective community relationships to deliver the Girl Scout program to under-served girls
  • Represent GSHNC at professional community events to build a strong presence in the counties
  • Facilitate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls in the community, with a clear understanding of the GSLE, National Program Portfolio, Safety Activity Checkpoints, council policies and procedures
  • Measure progress of outreach efforts and program delivery, and adjust strategy as needed
  • Track all activities and deliverables to ensure accurate, timely reporting for grant and funding requirements
  • Contribute to the pluralistic goals of the council by working with volunteers and site directors to reflect the interests and needs of diverse communities

  • Skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm for serving all girls
  • Understanding of and commitment to pluralism
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with exceptional organization skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Reliable transportation
  • High level of professionalism, with the ability to work independently, calmly, and efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to use technology and learn new technology applications
  • Good working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of Girl Scouts
