Position Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Oncology at UHealth Tower plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care across diverse clinical settings. This position emphasizes independent practice and collaborative engagement with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical assessments and document comprehensive health histories.
  • Independently perform age-appropriate evaluations for patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests tailored to the specific needs of patients.
  • Prescribe both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options.
  • Implement strategies to assist patients in achieving or maintaining physiological stability.
  • Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations in the provision of care.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for patients within various healthcare environments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to make appropriate referrals.
  • Provide educational resources to support decision-making for patients and their families.
  • Adhere to institutional policies and safeguard organizational assets.

Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in a relevant field.

Licensing and Certification:
Valid APRN License in the State of Florida.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in critical decision-making.
  • Proficient in completing tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Clinical Responsibilities
The CNS will be responsible for:
  • Assessing the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews and examinations.
  • Identifying deviations from normal findings and collaborating with physicians to develop treatment plans.
  • Writing prescriptions and managing follow-up care in accordance with established protocols.
  • Coordinating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Evaluating the quality of care and suggesting improvements as necessary.
  • Managing patient inquiries and providing symptom management for treatment-related side effects.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary rounds to ensure quality patient care.

Research Responsibilities
The CNS will also engage in:
  • Facilitating clinical research protocols and coordinating with research staff.
  • Obtaining necessary certifications within the specified timeframe.
