Job Summary

The Assistant Restaurant General Manager position is a key role in the success of our restaurant operations. As a member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, including driving revenue while controlling costs, labor management, cost of goods management, effective marketing of the restaurant, employee development and training, and building guest relations while upholding service standards and all health department standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the General Manager in the recruitment, training, and development of all restaurant employees, including servers, food runners, bartenders, barbacks, hosts, and restaurant management.
  • Monitor business operations and oversee the overall operations of the restaurant, promptly addressing all operational issues with management and staff.
  • Execute sales and marketing opportunities while maximizing cost controls, motivating the team to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Be responsible for facility maintenance, ensuring an A-grade compliance with health department standards and overseeing all inspections.
  • Develop and build guest relations, ensuring all guest complaints are resolved, and maintaining high guest satisfaction through constant training, education, and practice of high service standards.
  • Ensure all permits and licenses are maintained, up to date, and posted as required by law, monitoring potential liability issues and ensuring all employees have all required certification validated.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience as a manager in a high-volume restaurant, with excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong coaching and development skills, with the ability to read and write English proficiently.
  • Ability to efficiently operate and control labor costs, as well as cost of goods, and supplies to maximize restaurant profits.
  • Flexibility and tolerance for long, stressful nights, with a focus on profit, product, and people.
  • Professionally groomed and acting as a role model and leader in the restaurant, with a positive attitude, self-motivation, politeness, energy, and a willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Word, Excel, and any computer-based reservation systems such as Opentable.
  • Ability to digest complex information and communicate to employees.
  • Previous experience with a similar hospitality company is preferred.
Physical Requirements

The Assistant Restaurant General Manager must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks, physically able to lift and carry heavy trays and equipment, as well as delicate china and glassware, up to 50 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
