Job Overview:
SUMMARY:
- The Sequencing Workflows and Applications team at Magnit is in search of a dedicated scientist to engage in the research and preliminary development of innovative reagents, workflows, and assay solutions within the realm of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
- The ideal candidate will possess expertise in optimizing NGS workflows, complemented by practical experience in nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, target enrichment, sequencing, and data analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The successful applicant should have a solid foundation in molecular biology and related fields concerning human diseases, with hands-on experience in designing, optimizing, and validating NGS-based workflows.
- Accurately documents experimental methodologies, materials, and outcomes in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Analyzes data, assesses results, draws conclusions, and determines subsequent experimental directions.
- Utilizes extensive knowledge of molecular biology techniques to proactively troubleshoot assays, resolve technical challenges, and conduct data interpretation.
- Communicates findings, including scientific background and project updates, during internal meetings and cross-functional team discussions.
- Fosters and maintains effective relationships with Development personnel; provides orientation and training for new R&D staff as necessary.
- Drafts and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- For the Lead Research Scientist role: minimum of a BS degree with 6+ years or an MS with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong background in molecular biology.
- Experience in assay design, optimization, validation, experimental design, data analysis, and presentation.
- Proficiency in next-generation sequencing techniques (Exome, whole genome, RNA sequencing).
- Exceptional communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with next-generation sequencing using Illumina platforms such as NovaSeq, HiSeq, Nextseq, MiSeq.
- Prior experience in the analysis and interpretation of NGS data is advantageous.
- Familiarity with various genomics analysis technologies such as microarrays, real-time PCR, and ancillary equipment for quality control and validation is a plus.
- Understanding of oncology biology.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The expected pay range for this position is $37.98/hour - $53.00/hour on W2.
Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401K (subject to meeting minimum eligibility hours).
